Annual Business Meeting Called to order at 14:35 by President Rick Bennett 48 Association Members Present 150 Association Members and 3 Associate Members as of June 29, 2002

Presentation of Toady’s agenda by President Rick
First Order of Business – Reunion Mark Poland made a motion to move the reunion to 2004 instead of 2003. 2nd by Bill Gaik Discussion and vote on motion. Motion defeated.
Mark Poland made a motion to hold the reunion in St. Louis, MO in 2003. 2nd by Lenny Burke Amendment proposed by Jerry Kegley that the BOD set time and place. 2nd by Rich Gartrell Discussion and vote on amendment. Motion passed. Discussion and vote on motion. Motion passed.
Jerry Kegley made the motion that our reunions be held as follows; 2004 East Coast – 2005 West Coast – 2006 Central 2nd by Mark Poland Discussion and vote on motion. Motion passed.
Second Order of Business – Election of Board Members Nominating Committee has submitted the following people for our board;
Rich Gartrell 2002 through 2005 Nominated by Mark Poland and 2nd by Bill Gaik Discussion and vote on motion. Motion passed.
Tom Jones 2002 through 2005 Nominated by Jerry Kegley and 2nd by Bill Gaik Discussion and vote on motion. Motion passed.
Mark Poland 2002 through 2005 (to fill John English’s unexpired term) Nominated by Dee Lake and 2nd by Glen Minarik Discussion and vote on motion. Motion passed.
Third Order of Business – Membership Vice President Tom Jones presented a membership renewal policy approved by the board with a graduated scale system and was seeking input on what other association charge for their annual membership fee.
Mark Poland made a motion that our dues be set at $20.00 with no prorating or sliding scale instead of the graduated fee schedule approved by the board. 2nd by Pete Cullins Discussion and vote on motion. Motion defeated.
Tom then opened up the discussion on Life Membership and is decided to set up an Ad-Hoc Committee to look into this for our association. It was suggested that we model our dues program after the VFW and/or American Legion model.
Bob Crowell made a motion to set up our Ad-Hoc Committee on Life Membership fees and to recommend a policy to submit to our board. 2nd by Mark Poland Discussion and vote on motion. Motion passed.
Old Business Rich Gartrell gave us an update on our by-laws and the progress of filling for our non-profit status as a social organization in the State of Maryland.
He also elaborated on the Living History Project for our association.
Treasurers Report Bill Brewer reported to us the status of our association and Ship’s Store and that we currently have $2,047.20 in our checking account as of today.
New Business Rick Bennett gave us an overview of what has transpired since the formation of our association as well as the progress and pit falls on our road to incorporation.
Rick also inducted Rich Gartrell and Mark Poland as new board members.
Bill Gaik made a motion to adjourn. 2nd by Pat Lord No discussion, motion was approved and we adjourned at 16:30.
